Improving performance of legacy applications is often an exercise in IT archeology. Yet, some of the best opportunities for significant cost savings, lie in the applications that haven't been touched in years and occasionally decades. This presentation will describle a customer tuning project that delayed a major upgrade for over two years in the midst of a major budget challenge and will cover the methods and tools used to perform some extreme tuning of a 1980's vintage application.
