DB2 for z/OS has a long history of exploiting z/OS and System z enhancements. Examples of these include ESA and 64 bit Architectures, and Parallel Sysplex (DB2 Datasharing). That's the past - this session focuses on the present and the future. In this session, we will discuss how DB2 is taking advantage of the latest changes in System z HW and SW to bring you a more robust, scalable, and affordable computing platform today, and in the future.

Putting the pieces together - A quick overview of the pieces, DB2, System z, and z/OS, and Comm Server
Starting at the bottom - A look at the current System z Architecture features and how DB2 is exploiting these features today.
The OS - z/OS provides the basic infrastructure that DB2 relies on to provide the capabilities you have come to expect from DB2. We'll take a look at the the most recent z/OS releases and delve into the latest features and functions that DB2 is exploiting
Can you Hear me now? - Without communications, DB2 would be an island. Let's take a look at the latest features in Comm Server that enable DB2 communicate safely and securely with the outside world.
Finally, let's peek into the Future to understand what will be coming soon to your shop - A look at what the future holds and how DB2 is positioned to take advantage of those enhancements as they roll out.
