Large Objects were introduced in DB2 Version 6 and have really evolved since then. This presentation provides experiences and lessons learned while writing the IBM Redbook 'LOBs with DB2 for z/OS: Stronger and Faster' and looks at new LOB features coming along with DB2 9, simplifying their usage for users and administrators. Please note that DB2 utilitites for LOBs in DB2 9 are covered in "LOBs : Stronger and Faster in DB2 9 for z/OS - Part 2 of 2".
