Topic: DB2 for z/OS
In a desktop-centric world would a mainframe DBA career be more attractive if the tools we use are on the desktop and not on a green-screen? How much of a DB2 DBA's job can be accomplished without logging into TSO? What tools on Windows (or Unix) are available to the mainframer to address this space? In this presentation I will enumerate a variety of common DBA tasks and desktop tools that satisfy those tasks. I will also address some pitfalls and complexities that come with attempting a non-TSO approach to z/OS DBA work.
