No Magic to Improve DB2 for z/OS Application Performance (G03)

DBAs are usually familiar with programs, SQL statements and DB2 tables at their shop. But what to do when all DB2 programs are brand new for you in production? Here is the story of a large DB2 application migration from another company and how we solved several DB2 performance issues in our production system. Measurement based on DB2 accounting and RMF records was key to identify main areas for improvement. Testing and benchmarking helped to convince upper management of potential reduction in elapsed time to meet SLAs. Application Developers, Database administrators and DB2 system programmers worked together in order to transform challenges into a sucessful migration.
