Ensuring your database system always meets its business goals and avoids unexpected resource overload can be challenging when supporting a diverse set of workloads in your environment. DB2 Workload Management offers a powerful set of capabilities to allow you to manage and optimize your system but it can sometimes be difficult to know where to start. This session will bring you up to speed on the latest capabilities available for Workload Management in DB2 and through a series of practical examples will show you some of the current best practices for configuring and deploying WLM in your environment. You will learn how to optimize your system to avoid overload using query concurrency thresholds. You will also learn different methods to detect and block rogues queries. Finally we will introduce you to the new new wlm dispatcher capabilities in DB2 10, and show you how to use them both to provision your CPU resources for workload prioritization, and to sandbox specific workloads.
