Topic: 2013 NA
Subtopic: DB2 for LUW
This case study deals with the motivation for change from a very complicated XML based publishing framework to what seemed at the time to be a very straightforward solution.
In this study, the source was an OLTP system running Oracle RAC on an HPUX-Itanium server to an Operational Datastore running DB2 9.7 on AIX in a high-volume (absolutely has to work) environment. As in everything else, the devil is in the details. Learn what we found out the hard way. Topics include configuration, log retention, backup and recovery strategies, monitoring and alerting, auditing and verification. Also covered are the importance of timestamps, tuning the results on the target, ownership, communication, and other related topics. Learn how in partnership with IBM, and by leveraging various iCDC features, we eventually were able to create a stable, simple, and elegant solution to what can be one on the most challenging replication problems – near real time heterogeneous replication between high volume systems
