Topic: 2013 EMEA
Subtopic: DB2 for LUW
This talk will look reducing I/O by using the Storage Optimisation Feature for DB2 in its latest guise for DB2 10 LUW and the conversion from mainly standard compression tables (some uncompressed) in four production databases (11Tb in total - at the time) while maintaining maximum availability of the data for the business. Looking at how to asses, and provide evidence if needed to your bosses that this feature if you have not already got it is a good thing to buy and what it does. The process of changing to different compression modes and keeping your all important data available for as long as possible, and what you need to watch out for. Finally looking at how successful you have been in reducing your databases footprint on your enterprise storage.
