Invariably, an OLTP environment has applications where there are analytic queries that need to be run fast. DB2 10.5 with BLU acceleration was primarily targeted for a warehouse environment.
In the DB2 Cancun Release, a new feature has been introduced to allow column oriented shadow tables copies of row-organized tables. This allows analytical applications to reap the benefits of BLU acceleration while your OLTP transactions continue to use the row-organized tables.
