Subtopic: DB2 for LUW
DB2 pureScale offers an environment with outstanding scale-out OLTP performance and excellent availability characteristics. Many customers are porting their existing systems from other environments to DB2 pureScale, or considering doing so in the near future. DB2 pureScale's foundation of DB2/Z Sysplex technology means that the concepts it's based on are familiar to many DB2 DBAs, application developers and other database professionals. But, like any migration to a complex environment, the devil is in the details. With a focus on performance factors, this presentation will make the process much less 'devilish' by laying out the important steps to keep an eye on, and providing recommendations on how to avoid any missteps and pitfalls along the way. We'll begin with a review of cluster configuration choices, and then move on to look at the critical factors for performance, such as in database and schema design, application design, and the tradeoffs around distributing work across the cluster. We'll also look at some specialized performance monitoring techniques that will let you pin-point any bottlenecks that might crop up in your new DB2 pureScale deployment.
