One of the challenges of managing a complex database environment with middleware application servers is figuring out who are the human beings on the other end of the connection when you are chasing down bad SQL or problematic transactions. For performance reasons, most middleware application servers map different end-users on to the same connection with the same user ID, effectively hiding who the end-user is that is submitting the work. This presentation shows you how to get common middleware servers to leverage little known DB2 interfaces to push across additional information about the end-users and work that they are passing through to the database.
