Subtopic: DB2 for LUW
It's probably safe to assume that most people out there are familiar with the impressive scalability and continuous availability offered by DB2's pureScale feature. In fact, many of you have probably already envisioned how it can increase the capacity or improve the SLAs of one or more of your existing environments. But what has been holding you back from implementing pureScale? Is it the hardware requirements? The licensing costs? Recent enhancements in the technology, along with new ways of licensing pureScale have made it easier to get up and running with it. For instance, VMware support and the use of TCP/IP for the cluster interconnect means wider support for commodity hardware. pureScale is built with database consolidation in mind which means better utilization of your hardware resources. And the new DB2 Business Application Continuity Offering allows a specialized two member pureScale configuration with the continuous availability characteristics of pureScale, but with a very cost-effect license model. We'll dive deeper into all of these these topics and you'll see that there's no longer any need to hold back.
