More and more mainframe DB2 workloads originate off the mainframe and connect to DB2 through DDF using technologies like DB2 Connect and Websphere Application Server. Other applications connect directly using JDBC or SQLJ. This trend is changing the characteristics of your DB2 workload and introducing new challenges in understanding and managing DB2 application implementation. This technical presentation discusses DB2 on z/OS as a distributed database server, including distributed fundamentals, DDF architecture and implementation, DBAT considerations, and performance management for these distributed workloads.
