DB2 version 9 allows management of both relational data and XML data in native storage paradigms. IBM DB2 Driver is already fully loaded with capabilities to access relational data. Come and find out how to leverage the latest driver equipped with new hybrid power, which further enables XML capabilities. This presentation will discuss new major features for XML support. XML is added as a new DB2 built-in data type. The driver provides a rich selection of interfaces for accessing a value of the XML data type as a string, a byte array, a reader, an input stream, a proprietary DB2Xml instance, and the standard JDBC 4 SQLXML instance. In addition, the driver also introduces support for registering XML schema, which can be used to validate XML data later. SQL/XML and XQuery are two emerging standards for XML data manipulation. The presentation will cover how to take advantage of the newly introduced SQL/XML and XQuery features in the hybrid DB2 through the driver.
