Attend this session to learn how to first identify, and then fix suboptimal SQL. Usually 80% of performance problems are caused by suboptimal SQL. One suboptimal, high frequency SQL statement can drive a 16-way processor to its knees. Actual client experiences and examples will be presented. In this day and age where development time is short and deadlines tight, suboptimal SQL makes it's way into production. This session will show you how to capture suboptimal SQL with DB2 provided administrative routines and convenience views, without needing a third party vendor tool. You will be shown how to rank and review the top 10 SQL. Methods and techniques will be presented that you can use to then tune this suboptimal SQL. SQL best practices as well as index best practices will be presented. At the end of this session you will be able to capture suboptimal SQL, tune it, implement corrective action, and learn how to verify that the problem has been corrected.
