Many of todayís enterprise applications could potentially benefit from being spatially enabled. The ability to store geographic information alongside regular DB2 data and answer questions such as "Where is the closest branch office to my customerís home address?" and "Is this customerís house within an earthquake/flood zone?" with standard SQL queries can be incredibly valuable.This presentation is based upon the new spatial support within DB2 9 for z/OS. It includes an overview of the new features, and some early experiences on their use.
