As web applications continue to grow, tuning dynamic SQL continues to be one of the significant challenges for a DB2 DBA. DB2 v8 introduces a significant number of enhancements to surmount these challenges. This presentation will provide an insight into the new features that help manage SQL performance. Key aspects include: EXPLAIN SQL Statement cache,ZPARMS for controlling accounting record/SMF101 records accumulation, setting client registers, EXCSQLSET commands etc. The presentation also provides information on how to exploit the client registers to effectively group accounting and performance information for distributed applications.
