Databases need to be installed and created with the goal of full availability. During the installation and setup of a new database there are many things to keep in mind so the database instance does not need to be stopped to change the environment. We will talk about database parameters, buffers and memory usage (Verion 9)and tablespace storage that are used during normal use with growth, utilities and recovery all affecting the 24x7 usability of your DB2 database.
