Each of those six sections will be reviewed to help students build or refresh their skill sets for the exam. Examples of topics covered: Db2 and system environment, Db2 subsystem parameters characteristics (DSNZPARM), system tuning techniques using specific traces, Db2 commands, monitoring threads, overview of data sharing in Db2, backup and recovery of Db2, disaster recover considerations, system performance and tuning, buffer pools, workload manager settings, specialty engines in Db2, and troubleshooting scenarios.
- SQL PL Best Practices - Cross Platform
Tony Andrews, Themis Inc.
One of the most anticipated new features of Db2 was the SQL PL stored procedures (especially on z/OS). A key advantage is the ability to work entirely within the IBM Data Studio environment to accomplish Db2 development and deployment. Students will have the ability to log in and code a few stored procedures during this educational seminar. Also leave with some best practices of the language. Topics like XML parameters, array parameters, autonomous processing, piece-wise delete, and others will be talked about. This is for everyone on either Db2 platform.

You're at a Db2 conference so obviously you at least know how to spell Db2. Db2 education can be hard to come by. Once you have worked with Db2 for a few years, there is no better place for education than an IDUG Conference. However, IDUG conferences can be overwhelming for someone new to Db2. If you have just started working with Db2, this seminar is the place for you. This session is designed for any technicians who have been working with Db2 for less than two years. In addition to an introduction to Db2, this session serves to fill in the knowledge gaps that are inevitable in a self-taught world.
