Speaker Bio:

Michael is a IBM senior Software Engineer and Db2 Consulting Specialist based in Germany, working for IBM Db2 z/OS development (Silicon Valley Laboratory). He has over 25+ years of experience working with Db2 z/OS. Before joining IBM in 2001, he worked for large banking IT providers. He is experienced in Db2, IMS and z/OS system programming, client/server, parallel sysplex, Db2 data sharing implementations, subsystem environments like, CICS, IMS and others. Always aiming for high availability and continuous availability setups with focus on performance. He also is a co-author of IBM Db2 Redbooks and White papers and experienced presenter at IDUG and Db2 Technical Conferences in the past. Since 2004 he works as a member of the Db2 z/OS Development SWAT team supporting and advocating customers across various industries and geographies.

Anthony is a current member of the Db2 for z/OS development SWAT team based out of the Silicon Valley Lab and has over 26 years of professional Db2 experience with expertise in high available 24/7 high transaction rate data sharing environments. Strong knowledge base in Db2 data sharing, Db2 system performance as well as high available systems. Experience in all aspects of Db2, DBA experience, Db2 system experience and experience in architecting a well tuned Db2 environment. In this role as a member of the Db2 for z/OS SWAT team Anthony conducts educational workshops and availability studies for z/OS customers. Prior to joining the Db2 for z/OS development SWAT team, Anthony was a Db2 Technical Advisor in the Db2 Tools development lab as well as spending significant years as a high end customer participating in the Db2 engine CAC and a Db2 Information Champion.

Pavel is Senior Manager and Senior Software Engineer with IBM Db2 LUW development, responsible for multiple core Db2 kernel components. Always thrilled to work on hard-to-crack puzzles. Expertise in Db2 LUW kernel architecture, configuration and administration, advanced problem determination, memory architecture, memory leak troubleshooting, and assembly language. Hands-on development experience with buffer pool management, storage, prefetching, page cleaning, transaction logging, recovery, monitoring, and problem determination. As a member of the Db2 team, Pavel spent years in Db2 L2/L3 advanced support (over 1,500 resolved cases), then transitioned to Db2 LUW kernel development. In his past life Pavel was an application developer mostly using C++, SQL, .NET, Oracle, MS-SQL, and Informix on Windows, Linux, Solaris, and HP-UX.

Christoph Theisen is working as a Client Technical Specialist for IBM in Germany. He joined IBM's Global Services unit in 1991 and has been working in several client engagements since then, the majority of them related to Db2 on the Mainframe. Christoph's focus areas are logical and physical database design, Db2 application programming and modernization as well as Db2 connectivity, SQL programming and tuning. He also has expertise in Analytics on Db2 for z/OS and supports customers of IBM Db2 Analytics Accelerator in his current role.

Mukta Singh is the Program Director of Hybrid Data Management at IBM and is currently focused on Private Cloud strategy for Hybrid Data for IBM Cloud Pak for Data, Data Virtualization, Db2 Warehouse, data solution for private cloud and other Analytics Private Cloud offerings. Mukta has held a variety of roles in big data technology including product development, and product management for a variety of products. Mukta has worked extensively with the customer experience including strategizing, architecting, managing and delivering solutions to clients across many industries.

Ashwin Balu has been a recognized leader in the data warehousing world for the last decade. In his current role, he helps clients accelerate their businesses via analytics. He is as likely to be spotted assisting CxO-level leaders to solve big-picture business challenges, as he is to be found with his sleeves rolled up in a data center to help deeply technical teams. Zowe opens up z/OS to the open source tools and technologies that are commonly used to automate development, testing and deployment of software on other platforms.In this session you will have the opportunity to review the elements of a modern DevOps pipeline for a CICS transaction application written in COBOL and running on IBM dB2. In the first part of the session a members of the Broadcom engineering team contributing to Zowe Command Line Interface will walk you through the automation set up and the demonstration and in the second part of the session you can join one of the lab stations to update the automation code and discuss your use cases with the Broadcom technical team and other workshop participants. Prior experience in DevOps and modern scripting languages can be of help, but it is not required to participate.

His areas of expertise include Db2 performance, database administration, and backup and recovery.
