Does anyone know this error?

It often happens when utilities are running and its repetition in log will cause the database to terminate.

Alireza,

ICH409I indicates a security failure (RACF) according to IBM’s error lookup website. IEF342I point to the ABEND80A, which indicates that the process requesting (XXXXDBM1) couldn’t obtain space for something.

Further information is apparently contained in a DUMP. You should probably escalate to systems programming for your shop. If that’s you, you should escalate to IBM.

Thanks Philip,

The Reason of failure is RACF problem and is a security failure or is a real storage problem and allocation of real storage is failed in DBM1? I do not understand the relationship between them.

While the process allocating the requirement space, the space is not sufficient or can not be allocate for security reasons?

I could not find a reason for this ABEND by searching.

First thing to look at is the region size for your function. It may not have sufficient region size for the processing it needs to do.

Second, I concur, check with your friend z/OS System Programmer on this issue

Take a look at Mark Zelden's REXXSTOR exec.

Match the REGION & MEMLIMIT of the DBM1 address space & run it as a started task (the exits are usually set differently for jobs, acts, two, etc.)

Last, look at HVCOMMON in IEASYS of PARMLIB. There was an early bug in Db2 12 that required a huge setting, lo by fixed, but?

80A-010 ABEND
(in response to ALIREZA BAGHBAN)
Not always true. The REGION=0M is something special.

Typically abends S106, S80A, and S878 indicate a region size that is too small. However , with the server task it is possible to get these abends even with the region size set to a large value (REGION=64M or REGION=0M)

I would recommend you talk to your z/OS Sysprog or Performance/Capacity team to determine why the DBM1 took an S80A

If the DBM1 (i.e. DB2 Subsystem) has been up a long time (months/years/decades) without being cycled, it may have had fragmented storage.

Most recommendations is to no use REGION=0M but rather code REGION=256M for example.

So which part is your concern? The DBM1 abending with S80A or your Utility?

I would think you need to collect any doc you have (dumps, STC output for DBM1, syslog, etc) and open an SR to IBM DB2 or Catalog support. I am leaning towards CATALOG Support as it was in the catalog address space that saw the error. RACF was a victim. DBM1 was the requestor. But it might be the CAS (Catalog Address Space) that had the issue

I use 0M in job.

I think a value of 0M grants the job access to all available storage.

In Reply to Lizette Koehler:

You need to work with your system programmer

There may not be a sufficient REGION size or the system storage is exhausted.

In Reply to Philip Sevetson:

Does anyone know this error?

It often happens when utilities are running and its repetition in log will cause the database to terminate.

(in response to Lizette Koehler)

thanks all,

I have not succeeded in solving the problem so i assigned the task to system programmer.
