DB2 z/OS - Buffer Pool Activity
Good morning list,

A quick question: I noticed the other day that some of our buffer pools (in production) are defined with VPSEQT=0 and PGSTEAL='NONE'. Not sure why, I am still awaiting an answer from our DB2 system programmer. These are pools that are not big enough to hold all the objects assigned to them in their entirety (not even close), so they're not intended to be pinning tables and/or indexes in memory.

The documentation for these parameters say that VPSEQT=0 will essentially disable prefetch, as will PGSTEAL='NONE'. But watching buffer pool activity in Omegamon, it appears that prefetch is still happening.

Why would I still be seeing prefetch activity in these buffer pools if prefetch is supposedly disabled?

Thanks,
