I'm trying to configure the DB2 MQ listener which works in the USS.
I'm following the directions in this link :
I'm now in the step of "Follow the instructions in the README file that is in the MQListener installation path in z/OS UNIX System Services to complete the configuration process."
The file in question contains environment variables which need to be set-up and the first line in it is:
"Before running the MQListener daemon, update your .profile file
as follows : "
My question is which .profile file needs to be updated?
The general one (/etc/.profile) or of a specific user (which one)?
The Unix guys don't like the idea of updating the general file and are suggesting 2 alternatives:
1. Issuing the MQ listener commands using a BPXBATCH step via
JCL and setting up the environment vars in the STDENV DD.
I think this is not a good idea because we need to remember those vars and specifying them in every job.
2. using an env file in USS which contain the vars definitions.
Has anyone implemented the MQ listener and can share what he/she did?
Additional tips/tricks/ insights from such implementation will be happily received.
