Has anyone used Git for z/OS?

Has anyone used Git for z/OS?

Hi,

We have many REXX routines and looking for some effective way of managing the programs.

As per my understanding, Git for z/OS can be used for version management of programs written in COBOL or REXX.

Has anyone used Git for z/OS? If yes, can you please share your experiences?

Hi Bharath,

I am not an expert in git, but I know we use it a lot internally. It is the strategic SCM at my company. Incidentally it is also us that ported it to z/OS :)

git runs in USS, so you need to copy the library member to a USS directory first before running the git commands. You can do this manually or use REXX (DIY or use https://github.com/wizardofzos/zigi)
