DB2 (without PureScale) and GPFS (Spectrum Scale)

It is possible that in a GPFS (IBM Spectrum Scale) cluster to install DB2 (not PureScale) and to have a GPFS managed cluster of DB2 AWSE (instead of using a DB2 HADR ?!)

If we have 2 servers RHEL 7.x a in GPFS cluster (IBM Spectrum Scale Advanced Edition - 5.0) that share a GPFS file system /db2data on local disk of each server like /opt I install DB2 v11.1 Advanced Workgroup Server Edition (AWSE).

Next create home (instance) user on common /db2data.

If I create a instance on server1 on /db2data, data is replicated - the entire directory structure also on /db2data on server2 but the instance is only on server1.

db2ilist on server2 does not show any instance.

I presume the same it happens when create a database on server1 - it does not show up on server2 and also for other objects like tables, indexes etc

Is this possible somehow to get a GPFS cluster of DB2 AWSE without PureScale (I was told to try it)

I know such a solution does work for GPFS and WebSphere MQ.

But this is also possible with DB2 v11.1 ASE (not with PureScale) - I doubt so.

If yes does what objects replicate and how to implement it?!

According to this document  DB2BP_GPFS_0313.pdf

DB2BP_GPFS_0313.pdf

it might be possible but I found no other online resource !

I would really appreciate any feedback.
