Db2 11 z/OS performance using single plan for IMS RTT

Hello,

Our shop uses an RTT  for IMS online transactions connecting to Db2.  The RTT changes the Db2 plan name from the driver program name to different name as the plan name.  In order to simplify what plan to use, the thought is to use just 3 or 4 plans.  One for CICS, another for the majority of IMS transactions, and the other 1 or 2 plans would be for seldom used transactions.  Are there any sort of performance issues using this method?  Thanks,

Jorg Lueke

Assuming you use packages and you don't have an absurd number of packages per plan I doubt you'd see performance issues. So long as the plans fit comfortable in the EDM pool SKCT area. Of course the SKCT for each plan would be larger but those type of storage concerns are passé for most environments.

It does increase the impact if you ever need to rebind plan.
