DB2 VSAM dataset missing in reorg job.

DB2 VSAM dataset missing in reorg job.

DB2 experts,

All of sudden we noticed one partition of our DB2 VSAM datasets managed by SMS is missing.

When I try to reorg I see
DSNT500I 320 00:32:50.97 DSNUGBAC - RESOURCE UNAVAILABLE
REASON 00C200E2
TYPE 00000220
NAME BMGVZ0PD.DSNDBC.BMGVZPAD.VZ6200XT.J0001.A198

However, I see a DB2 VSAM data set named with the following format:
BMGVZ0PD.DSNDBC.BMGVZPAD.VZ6200XT.I0001.A198
BMGVZ0PD.DSNDBD.BMGVZPAD.VZ6200XT.I0001.A198
I am not sure how this partition 198 only say missing. (its 200 partition table)
But When I select * from tabel based on the Limit keys of part 198, getting rows.

How to fix the reorg job.

Thanks in advance

Ravi

Could it be that an earlier reorg died and left the J dataset there but uncatalogued? You mention that data is in the part but did you really select the data or just the index data? Could well be that the index is OK but the part has died...

In fact I did select * from that table and used bmc unload utility and unloaded all the rows of that partition to a tape.

QMF select on the partition data is working.

Hmmm and the SYSINDEXPART IPREFIX column shows an I or a J ?

Hey:

mmmm I don't think it would be uncatalogued because SMS managed datasets cannot be left uncatalogued. Can you also check if your MSTR joblog would be showing messages containing the text "ERROR IN ICF CATALOG LOCATE FUNCTION". In any case, there should be another accompanying MVS message giving more insight at the time of the problem. Can you share the related messages that appear at that moment?

Thank you all

Just used File-AID VSAM utilities and Renamed the

'BMGVZ0PD.DSNDBC.BMGVZPAD.VZ6200XT.I0001.A198'

to

'BMGVZ0PD.DSNDBC.BMGVZPAD.VZ6200XT.J0001.A198'

and tried reorg of part 198 and worked without any error.
