Word is that it is harded than predicted, and so IBM is currently planning on delivering this automatic functionality by late 2020.Cheers,DanSent from my T-Mobile 4G LTE Device

Thanks. So if they working on this through the EOS dated for DB2 11 then IBM must be aware of some places where these objects still exist.

I think they are painfully aware of this!

Hi Jorg,

To clarify, there is no hard stop for using or creating multi-table segmented table spaces in with the September 30, 2020 End of Support for Db2 11, even though IBM announced such tables as deprecated as long ago as the 2010 announcement letter for Version 10.

It is true that applications running in Db2 12 with APPLCOMPAT(V12R1M504) or higher cannot create new multi-table segmented table spaces. However, applications bound with APPLCOMPAT(V12R1M503) or lower can still create them, or you can use SET CURRENT APPLICATION COMPATIBILITY = ‘V12R1M503’;  to create them with dynamic SQL. Existing segmented table spaces remain supported as before in all currently available Db2 12 function levels.

For more about the changes for deprecated objects in Db2 12 function level 504, see our blog post, You can prevent the creation of new deprecated objects in Db2 12 function level 504.
