db2 v11 cm - syscopy issue

db2 v11 cm - syscopy issue
Have an issue with some deleted GDG's. Image copies for reorgs have a different naming standard than our daily image copies. The Reorg image copy GDG datasets were deleted. The issue now is that syscopy says the name the REORG is attempting to use already exists. I can't just clear by age/date because we want to keep our daily fulls/incrementals for the last few weeks. Could I do an update to change the DSNAME of the missing files in syscopy?

You can change your reorg job(s) to create generation +5 or whatever so that the name won't conflict with a name in SYSCOPY.

That seems contradictory – the way that the COPY function determines that a name has been used before is to check SYSIBM.SYSCOPY. Can you show the message?

To avoid changing JCL, just create a dummy dataset with the latest missing
name, run the reorg and then delete the dummy dataset.
