thanks

I think erly code goes into LPALIB not LINKLST. But it has been a while since I installed DB2.

What is the library name the erly code goes into?

so I found my own answer in the manual, if sdsnlink is LLA managed LLA needs to be refreshed. What occurs if LLA is not refreshed?

thanks

LLA is storage where load modules are place Once in LLA then it is rare that the actual dataset will be used over LLA.

If you update a datasets that is LLA Managed, and do not do an LLA UPDATE (which is the standard practice in most shops) then update modules will not be available. Only those in LLA will be used.

For example. If I put a PTF on Module A and it lives in LLA, then once the SYS1.LINKLIB dataset has the new module, it is not in affect until I do an LLA UPDATE Process

LLA UPDATE refreshes a smaller number of modules than an LLA REFRESH.

RE: Db2 Early code and LLA

but what is the difference between the db2 refresh and the LLA refresh? the db2 refresh involves what modules db2 uses.

thanks

If you don't do the LLA REFRESH, when you do the -REFRESH DB2, the location of the old
SDSNLINK modules will be found and, if you are lucky, loaded. So your -REFRESH won't.
(refresh)

I'll leave it as an exercise to figure out what happens when you are not lucky.

If you don't understand the LLA , read
https://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/en/SSLTBW_2.3.0/com.ibm.zos.v2r3.ieae100
/imperf.htm

And since the linklist libraries are (almost) always in the LLA ...

Does for me - after I stiched the broken line together. The URL starts with https:// and ends

Weird... I tried that and it failed - I tried it again just now and it worked... either my fat fingers or the IBM web site was down... take your bets!
