Db2 12 and z/os 2.2

Db2 12 and z/os 2.2

I am curious how many are running Db2 12 on z/os 2.2. And if you are on what service levels? And is the IBM common collector active on the same LPARS?

Hi Jorg,

Do you mean the IBM Data Access Common Collector used for IBM Db2 Query Monitor and IBM Guardium?
It supports z/OS V2.2 and Db2 12 without issues. You need at least APAR PI58175, though. I do recommended applying the latest maintenance.

We run Db2 12 on z/OS V2.2, V2.3 and I think also V2.4, but being vendor this is obviously not like your production environment.

If only it was problem free. With the latest maintenance we've run into PH16080 except not only when the MSTR task is shut down but any time it is active.

I also recommend the latest maintenance and that no component (os, dbms, isvs) is ever let go for more than 12 months. It just compounds all issues when the maintenance gets old.

Hi Jorg,

I had another customer hit a similar issue when the CQC and CQM maintenance was out of sync. The HOLD actions of CQM should tell you which CQC level is required. The recommendation is to have CQC, CQM and ADH in the same SMP/E global zone to ensure they are all at compatible maintenance levels.

Feel free to reach out to me off list for further discussion.

Jørn,

That is the state. CQM/CQC are on the latest maintenance as is Db2 12. z/os 2.2 is lagging far behind unfortunately. Maybe you can write the fix for PH16080 ;)

Hi Jorg,

Sorry to hear that -- I assume you already have an IBM Case open?

Anyway, I started my career as a developer many years ago. There is a reason why I am now in sales and no longer writing code ;) I will leave coding PH16080 to the qualified engineers... :)

Hi Jorg,

Without my help the developers have completed APAR PH16080 which is now closed :)

PTF UI65525 should be available shortly.
