DB2 v11 maintenance level prior to v12 migration

We are currently on v11 RSU1909. Should we consider another round of maintenance for v11 prior to migration to v12?

thanks

Bill

At the minimum – make sure you have your compatibility maintenance on the system

Best way is to do a FIXCAT listing on your current zone to see what is needed to install

I'd at least run a RECEIVE RECOMMENDED to get all available mainienance into your GLOBAL zone.  Then run an APPLY CHECK for the SOURCEID that mentions release v12 compatibility.  That will give you the minimum number of PTFs needed.  Otherwise use SOURCEID(RSU*).

There are fix categories to mark migration and co-existence maintenance.

I agree with Lizette. The v12 migration advises running a fixcat report.

SET BDY(GLOBAL).
    REPORT MISSINGFIX ZONES(DB2T300)
    FIXCAT(IBM.MIGRATE-FALLBACK.DB2.V12)
    .

RE: DB2 v11 maintenance level prior to v12 migration
(in response to Russell Peters)

So I ran:

REPORT MISSINGFIX ZONES(TARGET)
FIXCAT(IBM.Migrate-Fallback.DB2.V12).

and the report came back:

MISSING FIXCAT SYSMOD REPORT FOR ZONE TARGET

HOLD MISSING HELD
FIX CATEGORY FMID CLASS APAR SYSMOD
_______________ _______ _______ _______ ______
***NONE

So I am good?

Thanks

RE: DB2 v11 maintenance level prior to v12 migration

However, I want to validate what I have implemented in my actual "run time libraries".

So I need to track an applied PTF in one of my load modules?

thanks

....so let me get this straight.....I merely have to run MEPL and search for a given PTF? Very easy!

Great! :)

If the PTF you are checking on has been superseded, then it might not show up in the list

SMP/e list will show you what is installed.

If you run a batch SMP/e job with the following control statements, you can see what is installed, what is not installed by the PTF needed is received, or what is not installed and no PTF has been received, or what is still in error

Control Cards to use

SET BDY(GLOBAL).

REPORT MISSINGFIX ZONES(your-target-zone-here) FIXCAT(*).

This should give you a good listing of what your are looking for
