Become An IDUG Volunteer

If you have benefited from DB2 and IDUG, please consider giving back to the IDUG community by volunteering for the organization. Doing so not only helps your professional peers, but helps you, too, by expanding your circle of industry contacts, building your knowledge base, and introducing you to a great group of dedicated individuals who work together to advance the cause of DB2 users. You also get to play a role in charting the future of IDUG. If you have the time and energy and would be interested in contributing to IDUG’s mission, please consider applying for a position in one or more of the teams that make this volunteer driven organization work.

IDUG Conference Planning Committees (North America, Europe, Australia, India)

The position will require management support to attend planning meetings and the annual conference (travel and lodging will be covered by IDUG). It also requires a commitment of approximately two to four full days a month, depending on the time of year. Most of the meetings are scheduled over a weekend to minimize disruption of your work schedule. You will help with the conference planning process which includes the evaluation and selection of abstracts as well as the marketing and networking events.

IDUG Web Team

The position will require no travel and consists of managing the technical library, charting Website strategy and content needs, newsletter contributions and editing, coordinating the web-casts and discussion forums and web-administration activities. The IDUG website is a window to the DB2 community – you will help shape it. Experience with Java, ASP etc. is not required since the team does not do the coding.

IDUG Regional User Group (RUG) Team

The position will require no travel and consists of managing the relationship between IDUG and the Regional User Groups. You will provide assistance to existing user groups to grow and help with the formation of new user groups. This is a grass-roots effort and those who are currently active in their own Regional User Groups are the ideal candidates.

IDUG Solutions Journal

The position will require no travel. Responsibilities include conception and selection of editorial content for IDUG’s technical magazine. Other duties include author suggestion and referrals editorial validation and proofreading, and evaluation of articles for the IDUG Solutions Journal.

IDUG Product Enhancement Requirements Committee

The position will require no travel and consists of reviewing, and fostering discussion of product enhancement requests that are being submitted for consideration of new enhancements to database software. Currently requirements are being gathered for DB2, for discussion and submission to IBM. Advanced and/or practical knowledge of DB2 is required to help review requirements for accuracy and clarity.
