Workshops & Hands-On Labs
We are thrilled to offer workshops and hands-on labs to our in-person attendees on Wednesday afternoon. These sessions are complimentary with your paid registration – registration is limited to those who have already purchased their tickets to IDUG NA 2026 and will open in the summer.
IDUG Essentials Courses
The IDUG z/OS and LUW Essentials Courses are available exclusively at IDUG NA and EMEA events. These in-person only training sessions run parallel to our planned sessions. Essentials registrants are eligible to test at the end of week at no additional cost.
This course will expose the beginning z/OS DBAs (Database Administrators) to essentials of Database Administration for a Db2 13 for z/OS. This course will teach the students how to physically implement a logical database design using DDL and teaches considerations of referentially related tables. This course discusses the use of basic utilities, program preparation, serialization, and basic database security. This course does not cover distributed data processing, nor does it cover data sharing.
This foundational course introduces the essentials of Db2 12.1 for relational DBAs, covering architecture, installation, configuration, and basic database management. It then builds on these core skills with topics such as data movement, backup and recovery, and routine maintenance to ensure performance and integrity. Designed for new and transitioning DBAs, the course emphasizes hands-on learning with minimal prerequisites beyond basic SQL and database knowledge.
Exam Note: There is no certification for the foundational course, but students can take a proctored quiz after the class to obtain the badge.
Certification & Badging with IDUG
IDUG and IBM are proud to offer z/OS and LUW certification and badging opportunities to our in-person attendees at no additional cost. One exam per attendee is complimentary with your paid IDUG NA Db2 Tech Conference Registration. Test times and pre-registration instructions are included in our interactive agenda.
